Matsuki means pine tree in Japanese. This restaurant has been in Penang for almost ten years.

Jalan Pemenang used to be part of Jalan Cantonment (Cantonment Road). The Penang Malay Association or Persatuan Melayu Pulau Pinang (acronym Pemenang), an organisation founded in 1927, bought a building along the stretch of Cantonment Road between Jalan Kelawai (Kelawai Road) and Gurney Drive (often called Cantonment Road Ghaut, as it is an extension of the original Cantonment Road) at RM600,000. Later, they sought for the road to be named Jalan Pemenang, after the association.

The interior proves its long years in Penang.

The set meal comes with a cup of Green Tea and also a small bowl of bitter gourd fried egg.
