Yong Tau Foo at Big Tree Foot 大树脚

This is Ipoh's famous Big Tree Foot or Dai Syu Keok in Cantonese because it's under large trees. It's famous for the yong tau fu 娘豆腐. Here's the location.

This is the stall. They have plenty types of yong tau fu to choose from. This is how you order: You pick your desired yong tau fu into a bowl, then, tell the waitress the noodle and the soup/dry that you want.

China House is a traditional compound of 3 heritage buildings, linked by an open air courtyard and converted into 14 spaces comprising shops, cafes, restaurants, galleries and multi-purpose performance theatre.

Kopi C. Espresso (opens from 9am till midnight) has a very Australian style with breakfast all day and brunch on Sunday. Salads and sandwiches for lunch and mezze and simple fast mains for dinner. Single origin and blended coffee beans espresso style are available from the trained baristas.

BTB & Restaurant (opens from 6.30pm till 10.30pm) serves modern western style dishes influenced by an eclectic mix of asian and middle eastern cuisines. Dining at a leisurely pace, complemented by a great selection of fine wines. Food are prepared by Chef Mathijs, from Holland via Australia, now Malaysia. Following the Bon Ton tradition, desserts are also very special.

Beach St. Bakery (opens from 9am till midnight) is just next to the cafe, for eat in or take out. Muffins, biscuits, breads, pies - sweet and savoury, cakes and ice-creams are all made on the premises. A deli fridge has lots of accompaniments to take away, plus the deli freezer is stacked with homemade ice-creams and ice pops.

Wine and Single (opens from 9am till midnight) has a special wine selection imported by French Sebastien in KL and only available at Mezze restaurant, KL and O'Gourmet at Bangsar Shopping Centre. An interesting assortment of good fresh wines. Scottish and Japanese Single Malts are also available.

14 Chairs (opens from 9am till midnight) is a unique concept, a mixed use private dining space. This concept is inspired by a wonderful 12 ft marble table which dominates the room. There is also a small private indoor kitchen and an old fashioned outdoor kitchen. This space is available for rent for private parties and cooking schools. A weekly chef's dinner will be held on Fridays and a wine dinner on Thursday.

Courtyard Cafe & Burger Bar 
Relax in the outdoor courtyard, under the mango trees. Good old style burgers are served with lots of layers and homemade relishes and sauces. Complimented by a ceasar salad, lots of potato chips and the best Mississippi mud cake and ice-cream sundaes.

There's nice Laksa in Farlim. It's just next to the Pasar Malam in Farlim on Wednesday nights.

Ee Beng Vegetarian Food Restaurant @ Dickens Street

Ee Beng Vegetarian Restaurant is so far the best vegetarian restaurant I've ever been to in Penang.
It has actually two shops.. One serves local vegetarian food like Hokkien Mee and economic rice, while the other serves western food.
Both serve good food :)
